For Joey Ogburn, the founder of the Luv Shack Ranch, the rescue is the realization of a dream. A horse lover since childhood, Joey envisioned a place where these majestic animals could be guaranteed the love, respect and compassion that they have earned and deserve.  With the support of her husband Greg, Joey quit her job and committed herself to the task.  In 2004, with the purchase of horse property in the North Phoenix area of Desert Hills and the rescue of three severely neglected, orphaned Mustang foals, the work began.

As Joey's vision evolved, the Luv Shack Ranch has added programs to fulfill her goals. She recognized the therapeutic value of pairing children and horses and has since made this a priority. Joey's huge heart, limitless imagination and never say no approach show promise that the future will bring many positive changes to the Luv Shack.
